BELGRADE A man was arrested in Belgrade over the weekend on suspicion that he stole nearly a million euros from Banca Intesa. The suspect, Slobodan Nikolic, was apprehended on the order of the High Technology Crime Prosecution. The prosecution believes that the money was stolen from mid-May until mid-June of this year. The Belgrade-based daily Blic noted in its report that this makes Nikolic Serbia's "biggest bank robber." Websites of newspapers Kurir and Telegraf quoted sources close to the investigation who explained that Nikolic noticed that when used ATMs to withdraw money, the amount he took was added, instead of being taken from his bank account. Nikolic then "proceeded to withdraw maximum amounts per day, each day. " After a month, the bank "noticed that something was wrong, blocked the account, and informed the police," the reports said.
