BELGRADE Pristina-based Medicus Clinic is sending human organs from the black market to clinics across Germany, daily Politika writes. Thanks to German weekly Spiegel’s report, the German investigators started uncovering the network of the illegal organ trade. Pristina clinic supplies Germany with organs, report says Politka writes that the Medicus Clinic is often mentioned in the case of illegal organ trade of Serbs in Kosovo. According to the information obtained by EP rapporteur Senator Dick Marty and statements by EULEX Special Prosecutor Jonathan Ratel, the Medicus Clinic is the main organ supplier for clinics in Goettingen, Regensburg and Berlin. According to the daily, organs extracted from the kidnapped Serbs in 1999 served as the Medicus’ “ticket” to join a network of hospitals known for their involvement in illegal transplants. The Pristina-based clinic only performed transplantations in about 30 cases and it mainly focused on extraction of organs that were later sent to clinics worldwide. Politika has learnt that German Professor Manfred Boer was the biggest donor of the Medicus Clinic and a large part of his donations came from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The German ministry’s spokeswoman Katarina Menz stated that the money for the purchase of equipment for “a Kosovo hospital” had been forwarded to an unnamed humanitarian organization. Politika
