A Serbian citizen was detained late Wednesday at the Kalotina-Gradina border crossing between Bulgaria and Serbia for smuggling heroin. The suspect tried to smuggle over eight kilograms of heroin into Serbia. Man caught trying to smuggle heroin in toys The drugs were hidden in children's toys. During a control of a bus which was traveling on a regular line from Turkey to Montenegro, via Bulgaria, Bulgarian customs officials came across a suspiciously heavy toy truck, the customs administration said in a release Thursday. The toy turned out to contain nylon bags filled with heroin. The bus driver identified a 30-year-old passenger as the owner of the toy. Heroin was also found hidden in a toy horse. Customs officers found 26 packages in all, weighing a total of 8.217 kilograms. The heroin's value is estimated at over EUR 500,000 and the quantity is sufficient to prepare 15,000 doses. The suspect said they had been given to him by a stranger in Turkey, who had paid him EUR 1,000 to bring them into Serbia. (Tanjug, file)
