Security agencies have come into possession of new details about a period more than a decade ago when Ratko Mladic was hiding in Montenegro. This is according to Belgrade daily Vecernje novosti, whose sources said that the wanted Bosnian Serb general spent 15 days at the Montenegrin seaside, in Rezevici, in 1997. Mladic "vacationed in Montenegro" There he rented a large two-storey house where he stayed, ordering his security forces to stay and sleep in a tent next to the villa. More than ten people worked security, who, according to one source, expressed agitation at the fact, but Mladic did not allow them to enter the house. The Hague fugitive spent only 15 days on the summer vacation, though he had rented the house for a longer period. Vecernje Novosti sources claim the former general abruptly shortened his vacation and returned to Belgrade out of concern for his security and fear of possible arrest. According to the newspaper, the security forces were then paid 100 German marks for 15 days’ service and were angry because of the low earnings, as they knew an enormous amount of money had been collected for Mladic’s hiding.
