Serbia prepares new law on strike
A new law on strike will envisage that an employee can only be fired if a court determines that he went on strike illegally, it has been announced.

BELGRADE A new law on strike will envisage that an employee can only be fired if a court determines that he went on strike illegally, it has been announced. The draft should be discussed by the Serbian parliament in early 2013. Serbia prepares new law on strike "Workers can only suffer the consequences if a court finds that their strike was illegal," Zoran Martinovic, state secretary at the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Policy, told Tanjug. According to him, this means that employers will not be able to decide on their own whether a strike was illegal and fire a worker. Martinovic added that the law on strike will narrow down the areas in which minimum work process will be required and strike banned. The new law will give a greater role to the Agency for Peaceful Settlement of Labor Disputes, and another novelty is that every strike committee will have to report to the agency its decision to launch a strike 10 days before its beginning.
