Talks between companies, government begin

Serbian President Boris Tadic, PM Mirko Cvetkovic, National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Dejan Soskic started a meeting with companies and banks on Saturday. Agriculture Minister Dusan Petrovic and Economy Minister Nebojsa Ciric are also attending the meeting. Talks between companies, government begin Serbian Chamber of Commerce President Milos Bugarin, who is also attending the meeting, said earlier he expected suggestions on how to protect the national economy from further negative effects of the economic crisis. “The meeting should provide a solution to allow the real sector of the economy to overcome the crisis as smoothly as possible,” he noted, adding that he expected acceptable suggestions for the economy, commercial banks and the central bank. Heads of large state-owned companies are attending the meeting - Telekom Srbija Director Branko Radujko, Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) Director Dragomir Markovic and gas company Srbijagas Director Dusan Bajatovic. MK Commerce owner Miodrag Kostic, Privrednik Business Club President Branislav Grujic, Serbian Association of Managers Head Bojan Radun and a number of other prominent businessmen and bank executives are also taking part in the meeting.
