National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Dejan Soskic says that the Serbian government bears responsibility for the inflation rate being higher than planned. The government had not honored what had been agreed, he told the media in Belgrade on Tuesday, Beta news agency is reporting. Central bank chief blames government "Had all the prices under the jurisdiction of the state been coordinated so as not to pass the upper limit of the agreed amount, we would not be talking today about 9.3 inflation in September but about 8.3 percent," the governor stated. He underscored that the government had allowed the prices it controls to increase by ten percent instead of seven. Soskic is still convinced, however, that inflation this year will be single-digit and lower than the current 9.3 percent, and reiterated that inflation had been falling since April.
