G17 plus leader and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic said that there will be no increases in Value Added Taxes (VATs) in the next two years. He said that his party officials would not be voting for such a proposal in parliament. Economy Minister opposes increase of VATs “G17 plus does not support the increase of VATs at this moment, because it would be detrimental for Serbia and would affect the most vulnerable,” he said. He said that once a new government is elected in two years, Serbia will see how the economy is doing and decided what needs to be done from there. “Right now, no one can predict what will happen in two years, but we must work to make sure things get better and to make sure there is no need to change the taxes,” Dinkic said. He said that it is a good idea to decrease taxes on wages, but the question is whether it can be implemented. Dinkic said that citizens and workers would not see benefits from such a move, rather employers, who would not use the decrease in taxes to hire new people, but to turn it into more profit for themselves.
