Energy minister: South Stream by 2015

Energy Minister Petar Škundrić says that Russia has given strong guarantees that the South Stream gas pipeline through Serbia will be complete by 2015.

Energy Minister Petar Skundric says that Russia has given strong guarantees that the South Stream gas pipeline through Serbia will be complete by 2015. Skundric, opening the Energy Fair in Belgrade today, said that Gazprom officials would come to Belgrade in the next 10 days, where a special protocol would be drawn up relating to the South Stream project. Energy minister: South Stream by 2015 He said that the protocol would define time frames for both the feasibility study and the construction of the pipeline through Serbia. “It’s been agreed that a protocol pertaining to all of Gazprom’s obligations towards the South Stream gas pipeline and Banatski Dvor storage facility will be signed before any contract on the sale of NIS is concluded,” Skundric said. He added that there no specific talks relating to the sale of the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) had been held in Moscow this week. Skundric said that the agreement signed between Russia and Serbia on January 25 guaranteed that the Russians would respect all the time frames related to the energy deal. “Russia guarantees that the South Stream pipeline and Banatski Dvor projects will be implemented in accordance with the agreement signed by both sides,” Skundric said. He said that work on constructing the pipeline would begin once the project documentation was complete next year, and that all the documentation for South Stream was due to be finalized by 2010. Skundric said that the joint company for South Stream and Banatski Dvor would be founded in line with the envisioned plan, adding that certain preparatory work on the creation of this company was already under way.
