Heineken has announced the purchase of the Rodic MB brewery, though the sale price has yet to be revealed. Heineken will finance the transaction from existing funds, and the takeover will lead to a rise in the share price in 2010 with the money to be paid out in 2011, says a statement issued by the company. Heineken buys Serbian brewery The sale will be completed upon receipt of the necessary permits, after which, according to the forecast of the Dutch brewing giant’s President for Central and Eastern Europe Nico Nusmeier, Heineken will become Serbia’s third largest brewer. “The acquisition of Rodic MB will further contribute to Heineken’s position on the growing central and eastern European market,“ said Nusmeier. Heineken calculates that the beer market in Serbia has grown by three to five percent in 2007. Annual consumption in 2006 was some 5.6 million hectoliters, and average consumption per head was 52 liters. The Heineken Group owns over 115 breweries in more than 65 countries. The groups total sales are 132 million hectoliters, making it the fourth largest beer manufacturer in the world. In 2006, its turnover was EUR 12bn, with a net profit of EUR 930mn, excluding depreciation.
