Serbia will not look for a new arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mladjan Dinkic says. Instead, this international financial institution will in the future monitor basic economic movements in Serbia and recommend the best course of action, the economy minister told Belgrade daily Blic. "The talks today resembled pleasant chit-chat compared to the heavy negotiations we had three years ago," he told the newspaper. Also yesterday in Washington, Euromoney Magazine honored Dinkic with its Best Finance Minister award for 2006.

An IMF mission will arrive in Belgrade next week, he also explained, after a meeting with the institution's representatives in Washington Monday.
