The Russian leader reminded that last year the two countries marked 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and this year 75 years since the conclusion of the first interstate document: the Agreement on Economic and Cultural Cooperation.

Putin expressed hope that their next meeting will take place in Russia.

At the meeting, Kim emphasized Russia's role in the world and expressed full support for Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported.

"The government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea appreciates the important mission and role of the strong Russian Federation in maintaining strategic stability and balance in the world, and also expresses full support and solidarity to the Russian government, army, and people in conducting a special military operation in Ukraine to protect sovereignty, security interests, as well as territorial integrity," said Kim.

He pointed out that the situation in the world is rapidly changing and that in these conditions Pyongyang intends to strengthen strategic communication with Moscow.

Kim assured that North Korea will unconditionally support all political decisions of Russia. After briefing the two leaders, the talks between Putin and Kim continued behind closed doors. After the talks are completed, agreements between Russia and North Korea will be signed, after which the leaders will make statements to the media.

The program includes a gala concert in honor of Putin's visit, a state reception, and a visit to the Liberation Monument, dedicated to the Red Army soldiers who liberated Korea during World War II.

"Relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK are entering a period of new prosperity," Kim said after the first part of the conversation with Putin, Russian Tas reports.

He expressed his belief that during Putin's visit "the fervent friendship of the two countries will monolith strengthen". The leader of the DPRK warmly greeted his guest at the beginning of the negotiations.

He noted that this visit confirms the quality of Russian Korean relations, which have entered the period of greatest development. According to Kim Jong Un, this visit is a historic moment and has the most important strategic significance in the history of Russian Korean relations.

Kim Jong Un drew attention to how the head of the Russian state was welcomed by ordinary residents of Pyongyang.

"I think the enthusiasm shown to you by our residents once again confirms the true level of our relations," he said. He also stated that Russia "maintains a strategic balance in the world".

Putin last visited North Korea in 2000. Kim visited Russia from September 12 to 17 when he invited Putin to visit Pyongyang.
