Mother of a newborn found dead in trash bin identified and arrested PHOTO
The mother of a newborn whose body was found in a garbage can in Block 9 in Podgorica, identified as I.Š. (28) from Plužine, writes the media in Montenegro.
In the statement of the Police Administration, it is stated that the inspectors from Podgorica, who worked on this case, fully shed light on the case and "found the perpetrator".
"In a short period of time, the police officers undertook a series of police-prosecutorial, operational, technical and procedural activities that resulted in locating the persons at the scene and bringing the perpetrators of this crime into connection, where the police officers, by taking traces and conducting an extensive criminal investigation, identified I.Š. (28) from Plužine, residing in Podgorica, the mother of the newborn, as the perpetrator," the police said in a statement.
As they state, during the reconnaissance phase, a large number of video surveillances were examined and seized, information was collected from a large number of citizens, numerous investigations were conducted, and intelligence and operational knowledge checks were conducted, on the basis of which police activities directed the officers to locate the apartment used by I.Š. as well as the persons of the place, and on that occasion a search was carried out and objects found that are directly related to the traces made.
The suspect underwent a medical examination, on the basis of which the commission of the criminal offense charged against her was confirmed.
"In cooperation with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office, reconnaissance measures and actions were taken, where in further legal qualification by order of the state prosecutor in the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, I.Š. was deprived of her liberty on suspicion of having committed the crime of killing a child during childbirth - infanticide," the police state.
Just to recall, the dead baby in the bag was found by an employee of Utility Services, while he was doing his job. At first he thought it was a doll, but soon he realized that it was a dead, newborn boy.
The baby's body has been sent for an autopsy, after which the exact cause of death will be known.
