Namely, rumors spread on social networks on Wednesday that he had a stroke, and that he was admitted to the hospital. Some even claimed that he had passed away.

A member of the Republican People's Party of the center-left, Aykut Erdogan, who is also a member of the Turkish parliament, claimed that the "WhatsApp" application started circulating messages about the health of the Turkish president, and that he had a stroke on Tuesday night and was placed in hospital.

Rumors were further fueled by a video showing Erdogan having difficulty walking. However, Erdogan's spokesman, Fahrettin Altun, in the midst of those rumors, posted a video on Twitter of the Turkish president getting out of the limousine without help, and he denied the allegations from social media.

"Trust your friends, be afraid of the enemy," Altun said in the description of the video.

Allegations that Erdogan is in poor health were denied by the announcement from the official Twitter account of the President of Turkey, Greek media report.

Namely, a photo was published of the first man of Turkey meeting with the ambassadors and the Secretary General of the Council of Turkey.

Proceedings against 30 persons

Turkish authorities have initiated legal proceedings against 30 people because they published posts on Twitter about the alleged death of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to the Associated Press, those individuals could be charged with allegedly spreading "misinformation and manipulative content" as well as insulting Erdogan.
