Serbia has no alternative but to go to the polls early, opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) Vice-President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Friday. He said the postponement of a parliament vote on a controversial media law, and an agreement reached by the DS, G17 Plus and LDP, all show that the state is in a “total chaos” and that it is clear new elections must take place as soon as possible. "Early elections have no alternative" Vucic told a news conference that the state is unable to secure the majority in the parliament “for its laws”, that the regime is unable to secure normal functioning of any institution in the country and does not know what to do on August 31, the vote day. He said that law will “either be adopted in its present form or it will not pass”, that it may not be changed but only withdrawn, and that “some people should stop making up stories about that changes are possible”.
