"No more reductions of earnings, just increases"

Serbia has carried out a fiscal consolidation and there will be no more pension or salary cuts, but only increases, PM Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday.

What was said at the EBRD Western Balkans investment summit in London was better than our opinion about ourselves is, Vucic told state broadcaster RTS, adding that his speech focused rather on what Serbia must change and how it can preserve stability.

"We have worked together with the IMF and the World Bank and they are satisfied. I think that I was different in my speech, because I did not take the best that we can boast of," Vucic said.

I think that our cooperation with the EBRD will produce many good results, much good work in the future and that, in particular when it comes to SMEs, we will make considerable progress in the coming period, Vucic said.

Investors

Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic said in London on Monday that Serbia is ready for investors and that it has the potential to lead the entire Western Balkans into continued reforms.

As a dependable investment partner, Serbia has the potential to draw attention to the region, he told a panel on privatization chaired by EBRD Director for the Western Balkans Holger Muent at a Western Balkans investment summit hosted by the bank.

Investors, come, we are ready and waiting, he said.

In the field of macrofiscal and macromonetary measures, Serbia has achieved outstanding results and it continues to improve it, he said.

"We have improved the business environment and achieved much in the field of encouraging investments - I expect and urge investors to come to Serbia and see for themselves that we are a serious partner that is taking big steps forward," he said
