Democrats will be “responsible opposition”

Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Jelena Trivan says the DS will be a “responsible opposition”. She stressed that the DS in the opposition would have much bigger support of the citizens that the future government. She said that that the SPS went to the elections “as DS’ strategic partner”, adding that the URS was a “sworn enemy of the SNS”, while “(Serbian President) Tomislav Nikolic was “a candidate who will arrest (SPS leader Ivica) Dacic and (URS leader Mladjan) Dinkic and cancel all the agreements with Pristina”. “Today, Nikolic is announcing negotiations with (Kosovo President Atifete) Jahjaga and Dacic is announcing the return of the security forces to Kosovo and Metohija,” the DS official was quoted as saying. She added that the DS would be a responsible opposition “backed by an enormous number of citizens who did not vote for this kind of Serbia”. “The DS will offer an alternative policy that knows of values and goals and not just demagogy and mathematics in the ideological chaos,” Trivan noted. When asked whether the DS would vote for pro-European laws in the Serbian parliament, she said that the DS had secured Serbia’s European pathway and that it would not be the one to halt the progress.
