BELGRADE Serbia has already formed working groups for 35 chapters of the EU accession negotiations, EU Integration Office Director Milan Pajevic has said. He explained that the groups would transform into negotiating teams after Serbia had received a date for the beginning of the EU accession talks. “We have working groups for EU negotiations” Pajevic stressed that Serbia had administrative capacity to start the negotiations. “A direct, concrete work in the EU accession process will start in late fall or in early winter, in any case by the end of the year. Only once the so-called screening is done, an analytical review of our current harmonization with European norm, we will be able to assess how much time we will need to complete the negotiations,” he underscored. According to him, it is still too early to make any prognosis. However, Pajevic added that Croatia had negotiated for six years with the EU. He stressed that Croatia and Montenegro’s experience in the EU integration process were the most useful for Serbia. Milan Pajevic (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
