BELGRADE Former Serbian PM Mirko Cvetkovic on Thursday submitted his resignation as a member of the Serbian parliament, it has been reported. Cvetkovic was elected to parliament last spring on the ticket of the opposition Democratic Party (DS). Former PM resigns as member of parliament Parliament Secretary Jana Ljubicic told Tanjug that Cvetkovic's resignation was received, and that it was filed to the parliament notary office. Cvetkovic's MP seat should be taken by Srdjan Milivojevic, who is next on the list of DS MP candidates, and also held the office in the previous mandate. The new DS leader, Dragan Djilas, recommended to former cabinet ministers from the ranks of his party to resign as MPs, and Snezana Malovic and Oliver Dulic did so. Addressing his party earlier this month, Djilas said that "all ministers who sat in the government that did not receive a passing grade from the citizens should reconsider whether they should sit in parliament and represent the DS, regardless of the fact that some of them did their job well."
