NOVI SAD League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) leader Nenad Canak says that he will start the internalization of the issue of Vojvodina. The Constitutional Court of Serbia disputed certain parts of Vojvodina’s jurisdiction recently. LSV leader: Issue of Vojvodina to be internationalized “We have been unequivocally informed that Vojvodina cannot even issue fishing licenses. We now have to defend ourselves and since there is nobody who can protect our rights here, the internationalization of the Vojvodina issue is unavoidable,” he told Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik. Canak added that Vojvodina trusted the Serbian political system but that the “trust was met by arrogance of Belgrade strongmen and their poltroons”. According to him, it is obvious that “there is a vast majority” of people living in Vojvodina who will not accept that Vojvodina’s specificities be erased. “There is no separatism, that is nonsense but I as a Serb from Vojvodina feel my specificity. And we are only asking for an elementary civilized heritage – the right to decide on our resources,” the LSV leader pointed out. According to him, the Serbian Constitution from 2006 was passed against the will of the Vojvodina citizens. “It is an artificial and false creation that has nothing to do with the reality,” he explained. Vojvodina Executive Council Chairman Bojan Pajtic said on Saturday that the Constitutional Court’s decision was political. The Constitutional Court declared around 20 regulations of the Law on Establishing Jurisdiction of Vojvodina unconstitutional, including the ones that Novi Sad is a capital of the province and that Vojvodina can have its office in Brussels.
