The family of Brice Taton, a Frenchman who was beaten to death in Belgrade in 2008, requested EUR 300,000 in damages from Serbia's Interior Ministry. Lawyer Slobodan Ruzic, who is representing the Taton family, told Tanjug that he had filed the lawsuit before the High Court in Belgrade because the Public Prosecution had failed to make a statement about possibilities for a peaceful solution through an out-of-court agreement within the prescribed 60 days. Taton was beaten to death in downtown Belgrade on September 17, 2008, just before the start of the Partizan - Toulouse football match, which he had come to watch as a fan of French team.
