Football Club FK Partizan appointed club legend Saša Ilić as its new head coach, replacing Srdjan Blagojevic, who left for Russia. Ilić signed a two-year contract with the club.

“First of all, I haven’t seen this many people at a press conference in a long time. I am proud to have become Partizan’s coach. I don’t even want to talk about what Partizan means to me. I have been a coach for seven years, I have worked in various clubs, and I am ready for what awaits me at Partizan. This is the biggest challenge of my career,” Ilić said at the beginning of his presentation.

“At the start, we will be carried by euphoria, and we need to control that. This is a young team, we will need reinforcements. We will try to make results,” he added.

When asked why now is the right time to return to Partizan, he said:

“There were offers a few years ago, but I wasn’t ready. My job is the pitch and the players. I hope there will be no problems there. We will bring in some players — at our club, mediocrity is not tolerated,” Ilić said.

One of the first questions was what kind of Partizan fans can expect.

“FK Partizan must play offensively, that is a fact when it comes to this club. It must have a fluid, attractive style of play. As a coach, I also have to think about results. All of that needs to be combined. I want Partizan to play with a lot of intensity. In two years, I see it where all the fans want it to be,” said Saša Ilić.

When asked whether Europe is a priority:

“At Partizan, everything is a priority. We will do everything to make Partizan play better. We go step by step. One match means nothing. We are a young team, fluctuations are normal. I will try to make sure we all move in that direction and that Partizan achieves good results,” Ilić said.
