Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic says the suspects in the theft of a Paul Cezanne painting had intended to sell the painting to a Belgrade buyer. The artwork, "The Boy in the Red Vest", was meant to be sold for EUR 3.5 million. Stolen Cezanne was intended for Belgrade buyer "During the investigation, which took around two years, the police acquired the information that the painting was in Belgrade and that the suspects were trying to sell it. EUR 1.4 million had changed hands, and another EUR 400,000 afterwards," Radisavljevic told a joint news conference with Interior Minister Ivica Dacic in Belgrade late on Thursday. When one of the suspects went to deliver the painting and receive the final payment, the police intercepted him, seized the painting and arrested the man, Radisavljevic stated. The painting was hidden under the upholstery of the suspect's vehicle, he explained. A total of EUR 1.49 million were found during the searches of the suspects' residences.
