The Serbs, who had the license plates issued by the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP), were released after charges against them had been filed. According to the KPS, all the seized plates were kept either in the trunks or inside the cars. All the cars had Kosovo license plates in place. The border police seized new Serbian license plates that they found inside Gracanica Health Center’s ambulance at the Merdare crossing two days ago. The Health Center has stated that it is now unable to transport seriously ill patients to Serbia. Kosovo Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi said on Friday that the police did the right thing when they seized the new Serbian license plates found in the ambulance “because the regulation does not specify where the plates should be”. “Our regulation is clear, those plates are illegal and they will be confiscated whenever we find them,” Rexhepi stressed. Due to high insurance costs, Kosovo Serbs often have two sets of license plates and they use Serbian ones in central Serbia and plates issued by the Pristina authorities in Kosovo. Tanjug
