Those Serbians living abroad after they avoided the obligatory service in the military, can return to the country without fear of being arrested. This is according to Minister for Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic, who stated that Serbia's top officials have reached an agreement to practically apply the Law on Amnesty for Conscripts, which is still a draft. Amnesty for draft dodgers to take effect This will enable those who avoided service to spend time with their families during the forthcoming holidays, it was explained. The government will meet today and is expected to adopt the proposal, while parliament will debate it in January. But Sreckovic explained that the government had reached an agreement for the regulation to be implemented during the forthcoming holiday season. According to reports, rough estimates show that this decision will allow more than 10,000 Serbian citizens to return to the country if they wish to do so.
