Former army reservists will organize a fresh protest in Kursumlija today. The reservists, who are entering the 78th day of their protest, are demanding payment of wages owed to them from the Kosovo conflict of 1999. They will later take their protest to the center of the town, before blocking the Nis-Pristina highway. Strikers’ union official Branislav Jovanovic said that more reservists would be joining the protest today on what is a symbolic occasion. “A large number of fighters will give blood for this 78th day. The NATO bombing lasted 78 days and a lot of Serb blood was spilt,” he said. “We, the fighters for justice and war wages, are donating blood today, and afterwards, we are organizing a large rally,” Jovanovic said. After the rally, the reservists will use cars and other heavy machinery to block the Nis-Pristina highway. The protests began after the reservists were given a list showing that the first people reimbursed after the war were the close relatives and friends of Kursumlija court judges responsible for distributing the wages. The reservists stated that their protests would not end until all of their demands were met.
