LJUBLJANA --
A mass grave with the bodies of about 700 people killed after World War II was uncovered in northern Slovenia.
This was confirmed by the Chief of the Slovenian Government’s Commission for the Exhumation of Mass Graves, Marko Štrovs.
He said that the bodies were found when experts investigated a ditch in the forest near the village of Prevelja last week, which is located near the Austrian border and was brought to the commission's attention by a local resident.
Štrovs said that the bodies are most likely of victims from Austria.
He said that the victims were mostly shot dead, but some of them might have been killed with a weapon similar to an axe.
It has been rumored that Yugoslav anti-fascists killed many Nazi cooperators after World War II.
