"Brnabic will be elected with 156 votes in favor" - report

According to the report, regardless of the dramatic statements and the questioning of the existence of a majority to elect Brnabic as prime minister, the Progressives (SNS) "have no reason to worry."

"Ana Brnabic will be smoothly elected by 129 MPs from the SNS, 22 from the SPS and five from the SVM-PDD club. In other words, she will have the support of 156 deputies," Politika writes.

On Monday, the country's president and SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic held a meeting with members of the Assembly from its ticket at the party's HQ, with support for Brnabic on the agenda.

Vucic responded briefly to journalists' questions after the meeting, replying to two questions about the Socialists' (SPS) demands, and the stances within the SNS around the nomination of Brnabic by saying, "everything will be alright."

One of deputy SNS leaders, Marija Obradovic, then stated that the Progressives unanimously supported the proposal of Vucic, but that it remains unclear whether there would be "a 128 vote majority" to elect Brnabic as PM.
