NOVI SAD The Serbian government has transferred additional RSD 12bn to Vojvodina which will allow the provincial budget to amount to seven percent of the state budget. This is according to Vojvodina Executive Council President Bojan Pajtic. Vojvodina budget gets additional RSD 12bn He told reporters on Thursday that this meant that the province would not have to resort to “temporary financing” and that it would quickly present a draft budget for 2013 which would amount to RSD 71bn, which would comply with the constitutional regulation that Vojvodina’s budget should be seven percent of the total state budget. “The money will be used for our top priority program and that is construction of the half of a highway from Novi Sad to Ruma which envisages the construction of a tunnel through Mt. Fruska Gora,” Pajtic explained. He added that Vojvodina wanted to use the project to provide an opportunity for development in underdeveloped parts of the province. “Reasons for temporary financing have disappeared and this practically satisfied the constitutional framework and a condition that three sevenths of the funds go to capital investments has been met,” Pajtic said. He added that the provincial authorities earlier insisted that Vojvodina be given funds guaranteed by the Constitution and announced charges and a proceeding before the Constitutional Court. “Talks with President Tomislav Nikolic and Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic yielded results and there is no reason anymore to launch proceedings before courts over the present Serbian budget,” he underscored. Pajtic assessed that it was very important to respect the Constitution because it was a foundation of the state and it would be frivolous to violate it. Bojan Pajtic (FoNet, file) Beta
