President Boris Tadic says that China has become one of Serbia’s most significant strategic partners. Tadic met today with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Chief-of-Staff Chen Bingde. Tadic: China key partner According to a statement from the Presidency, Tadic said that he appreciated China’s consistent support to Serbia when it came to the protection and preservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The president told Chen that Serbia’s support to the One China policy was firm and legitimate. Tadic said that he was satisfied by the way bilateral military relations between the two countries were developing, as proven by the fact that many Serbian soldiers were being educated in China and that that number was increasing. He voiced his hope that the two countries would cooperate well in the field of military medicine too. This is the first visit of a Chinese Army Chief-of-Staff to Serbia in 20 years. Earlier, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Army (VS) Lieutenant General Zdravko Ponos and Chen agreed that there were possibilities for the good bilateral cooperation so far to be further promoted in the coming period. Addressing a joint press conference at the Guards Club, the two generals underlined the traditional friendly ties between the two states, as well as their common respect for the principles of international law.
