Ahead of elections organized by the Kosovo Albanian government in Pristina, state officials are calling on Serbs to heed the government "advice". State Secretary for Kosovo and Metohija Oliver Ivanovic stated on Friday that the life of Serbs in the southern Serbian province will continue to depend on Belgrade for a long time to come, and added that this is the reason why Kosovo Serbs need to give greater consideration to Serbian government's instructions and suggestions. "Kosovo Serbs should follow govt. advice" "Only the Serbian government can help Kosovo Serbs get a better position, even in the Kosovo institutions, through the forthcoming talks, because Serbs have not found an instrument to protect their vital rights and avoid being voted down on the matters that are essential for their life," Ivanovic told Tanjug. Ivanovic explained that he was "not against the elections and the participation of Serbs in the Kosovo institutions", but that he opposes the idea of Serbs voting in elections without the consent and support of the Serbian government, which decided that it is not the right time for Serbs in the province to go to polls. According to Ivanovic, experience shows that regardless of the Serb turnout in the elections, the credibility of individuals appointed for the Kosovo interim institutions exclusively depends on whether they have the support of the Serbian government. Ivanovic pointed out that his stand on the Kosovo elections is the same for both the southern and the northern - predominantly Serb - part of the province. Oliver Ivanovic (FoNet, file)

Rusi prešli severnu granicu: Harkov pada?

Ofanziva ruskih snaga na harkovskom pravcu pokazala se toliko brzom i snažnom da im oskudne odbrambene strukture Ukrajine nisu postale prepreka, a osiromašeni redovi ukrajinskih oružanih snaga nisu bili spremni da brane svoje položaje, piše Njujork tajms.
