Slobodan Ruzic, the family's attorney, in his closing statement, sought EUR 200,000 in damages for the parents, stating that the state of Serbia should pay because "it had not done anything to protect that young man (Brice Taton)." Deputy Higher Public Prosecutor Gordana Janicijevic in her closing statement said that the suspects had committed murder entirely conscious of the result they had wanted. Ivan Bajazit, defense attorney for prime defendant Djordje Prelic, said in his closing argument that his client did not commit the crime he was charged with and asked for an acquittal.
