Candidate's house burns down
11 May 2008 | 19:09 | Source: B92
ORAŠAC -- A fire in the village of Orašac, near Belgrade, engulfed almost half the household belonging to a Democratic Party (DS) candidate in the local elections.

Vladislav Miljković told reporters that there was significant material damage to his property, and that he suspects the fire to have been the work of arsonists.

The blaze also spread to a cowshed with some 30 animals inside, but Miljković managed to get them out to safety in time.

"I am convinced that this is a political game. There is no chance that the fire broke out accidentally," he said.

Another blaze was reported nearby also last night – it later turned out to be the home of his father-in-law.

Police were at the scene this morning conducting their investigation, but have so far released no statement.
