The agreement on Kosovo’s representation brings a sustainable solution that will give northern Kosovo citizens freedom of movement, Dragan Sutanovac says. The defense minister added that the agreement would allow Serbia to make progress on its EU pathway. Minister: Agreement to lead to sustainable solution “This has finally verified our policy which is both Serbia in Europe and Kosovo,” he told Svilajnac-based TV Centar. The Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader said that the Brussels agreement was one of the most important steps toward the EU candidate status, adding that it did not only depend on the Serbian government. He said that Serbia had two years ago received recommendation on the implementation of reforms from the European Commission (EC) and that they had been much better than in the number of countries that had already joined the EU. “As far as reforms of our system are concerned, we got high marks but we had the recommendation that did not only depend on us and we had to start the dialogue and negotiations in Brussels because of it,” Sutanovac explained. He noted that Belgrade team chief Borislav Stefanovic had “put a lot of energy” in the dialogue and that that Serbian President Boris Tadic’s influence had helped reach the agreement. The defense minister said he was sorry to hear that Serbs from northern Kosovo made their opinion and stances based on “instructions coming from Belgrade parties”, primarily Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and Serb Radical Party (SRS).
