"Serbian personnel can't guard monasteries"

Kosovo Albanian government's interior minister said on Sunday that "Serbia can't send personnel" to help guard Serb medieval monasteries and historic monuments. Bajram Redzepi's comments came Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Sunday in Gracanica that Belgrade was ready to send personnel to help guard Serb medieval monasteries and historic monuments in Kosovo and Metohija. "Serbian personnel can't guard monasteries" Redzepi said this was "only wishful thinking of some individuals". "Kosovo has its own police which guards monasteries which are Kosovo's cultural heritage," he told Kosovska Mitrovica radio Contact Plus, in reference to the Serbian Orthodox monasteries. "The UN Security Council Resolution 1244 does not say that Serbia has the right to send its police to Kosovo," he further asserted. "This story is finished, especially after the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the declaration of independence of Kosovo," Redzepi said.
