President Boris Tadic welcomed high school students from municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja in Belgrade on Wednesday. They were previously awarded scholarships of the Coordination Body of the Serbian government set up to work in this southern region. The Coordination Body announced an open competition for scholarships in June of this year, and 819 high school students applied. Scholarships were given to children without one or both parents, and other criteria included the social standing of the parents or guardians, and their academic success in the previous academic year. 58 students from Presevo, 55 from Bujanovac and 39 from Medvedja wo, the scholarships. 99 of them Albanians, 41 Serbs and 12 Roma. They are entitled to RSD 5,000 a month each until the end of this school year.
