  13. Let God have mercy on his soul. He lived in turbulent times, through two World Wars, a long Cold War and horrible wars and ethnic cleansings. He was born when crowned monarchs felt supreme, saw the rise and the fall of communism and nazism, outlived many dreams ... yet stood firmly behind his believes. He hoped that through Christ men could be absolved of his sins and really find peace and brotherhood. He shunned eccumenism when it became the fashion of the day, rejected modernization of an institution he believed to be eternal and unchangible. Was he right or wrong, we don't know. But we know that he never hesitated in his service to God and his nation the way he saw it proper. Let him rest in peace.

...In 1989, the then Bishop Pavle was personally beaten by several Albanian youths in Kosovo. The extent of his injuries required nearly 3 months of hospitalization. However, in the spirit of Christian forgiveness, he refused to press charges."

  19. @Adrian: the holly people on your list had pretty long lives. You even should multiply the physical years by large factors - they lived for their people.

Their destiny was to have more physical years than average person has. Probably for a good reason.

    Rest in peace, holy man.
