Vucic: If I were German, I would invest in Serbia

Speaking at a session of the Ubersee Club - one of Europe's most prestigious business clubs - Vucic said Serbia had been very successful in reforms and that the International Monetary Fund had forecast 2.8 pct, 3 pct and 3.5 pct growth rates for the country in 2016, 2017, and 2018, respectively.

"I can tell you it will be at least 4 pct, which means that, after years of recession, not bad years are ahead for us," Vucic said.

"Good message"

Serbia's "certain European path" is a good precondition for interest from German investors, Hamburg Mayor Olaf Scholz said on Monday.

Meeting with Aleksandar Vucic, he said there was serious intent in northern Germany to open the labor market to Serbian citizens.

"A good message to investors would be that Serbia is on a certain European path and that they can trust the legal system, and what you are doing is a good way to convince them of this," Scholz said.

Serbia is on the right track - European and German investors are doing good business in Serbia and there is interest among investors to invest more, Scholz said.

Accepting Vucic's invitation to pay a visit to Serbia, Scholz said it would take place after the elections in Germany.
