ISTANBUL The Turkish police on Wednesday used water cannons and tear gas to disperse a May Day demonstration organized in Istanbul. The authorities previously banned gtherings on Taksim Square saying that because of renovations security could not be assured for the tens of thousands of demonstrators expected, the AFP reported.
