Voting is underway in Turkey in a referendum on constitutional reform. The government wants to make changes that will bring it closer to standards across the European Union. Turkey votes on constitutional reform Latest polls suggest Turkey will back the proposals with some 55 percent of voters expected to vote "Yes". But, a large section of the electorate, nearly a fifth according to one estimate, are still undecided. That could sway the result, widely seen as an acid test for the ruling AK party. Even though, a high turnout is expected, some experts say many people do not know what they are voting for. The opposition accuses the government of trying to weaken Turkey’s secular nature by changing the constitution which was drawn up after a military coup in 1980.
