Wanted Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud has been killed in an American drone missile attack, according to Pakistani intelligence officers.

Wanted Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud has been killed in an American drone missile attack, according to Pakistani intelligence officers. The unofficial reports say he was killed with his wife and bodyguards on Wednesday and has already been buried. Wanted Taliban chief reported dead Operating from his power base in the tribal region of South Waziristan, Mehsud is said to have been an influential link between the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists, responsible for numerous bombings including that which killed former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Buttho – though he denied responsibility for that attack. The United States had put a 5 million dollar bounty on Mehsud’s head: he was said to be a key strategist and organizer and his death would be a major coup for those fighting the Taliban movement.
