Protesting raspberry farmers say they will not give up on their decision to go to Belgrade in order to request higher raspberry price.

Protesting raspberry farmers say they will not give up on their decision to go to Belgrade in order to request higher raspberry price. Dissatisfied farmers started their protest on Saturday and were on their way to Belgrade but police stopped them near the towns of Bajina Basta, Kosjeric, Uzice, Ivanjica, Pozega, Priboj, Prijepolje and Nova Varos. Raspberry farmers continue protest Raspberry Farmers Union President Dragan Terzic said that the farmers would not give up on their request to raise the raspberry price from RSD 90 to RSD 100. He also pointed out that the government and the Agriculture Ministry needed to accept their proposal to give incentives to raspberry farmers that would, in his opinion, bring around EUR 150mn a year. The Union members also request to have a meeting with the government officials in the western Serbian town of Uzice. Agriculture Minister Dusan Petrovic said on Saturday that he did not understand what the reason for the protest was, since the agreement which had earlier been reached with raspberry farmers from the town of Arilje could apply to all raspberry farmers in Serbia.
