Teachers’ unions who have been on strike will hold a meeting today in order to discuss the announced protest. Members of the Union of Education Workers of Serbia, Independence Trade Union and the Association of Teachers' Trade Unions of Serbia, who have been on strike since January by cutting classes 15 minutes short, have announced that they will not hold classes at all as of March 25 if their salaries are reduced. Teachers unions to decide about protest Independence Trade Union President Tomislav Zivanovic told B92 that Education Minister Zarko Obradovic was also invited to the meeting but that he had not confirmed that he would come. He stressed that there was a possibility that teachers would completely stop working and take it to the streets as a response to the government’s repression. The Education Ministry said earlier that those teachers who continued the strike after February 7 would be paid based on their performance, which the unions find unacceptable. (Beta, file)

Independence Trade Union President Tomislav Živanović told B92 that Education Minister Žarko Obradović was also invited to the meeting but that he had not confirmed that he would come.He stressed that there was a possibility that teachers would completely stop working and take it to the streets as a response to the government’s repression.
The Education Ministry said earlier that those teachers who continued the strike after February 7 would be paid based on their performance, which the unions find unacceptable.
