Serbian man swims across Amazon

Serbian swimmer Darko Novović swam 5.450km across the Amazon River in 46 days by swimming the average of 16 hours and passing 118 kilometers a day.

Serbian swimmer Darko Novovic swam 5.450km across the Amazon River in 46 days by swimming the average of 16 hours and passing 118 kilometers a day. Novovic thus broke Slovenia's legendary Martin Strel's record, who swam it off in 66 days, Belgrade daily Politika wrote on Wednesday. Serbian man swims across Amazon The swimmer announced that he will donate a part of the modest award sum, which he got for breaking the Guinness World Record, to the quake-hit town Kraljevo. Upon returning to Belgrade, Novovic got another offer - to swim next year down the Danube, from the Black Forest to the Black Sea. “That is a short section, but I will stop in Belgrade,” Novovic said. He previously swam across the English Channel, the Adriatic Sea from Bari to Petrovac, and from Athens to Herceg Novi (1,280km in 33 days).
