Eight people were injured and 34 arrests were made during the Belgrade derby football match between Red Star and Partizan. Two injured persons were taken to the emergency room. Belgrade Police administration Chief Slobodan Vukolic said that thanks to fast interventions of members of the sector for emergency situations, the fire was quickly put out. Vukolic said that before and after the derby, a total of 34 persons were arrested, 14 of which were minors. Police searching the stands confiscated several dozen smoke bombs, about 60 torches and many firecrackers. Several hundred police officers made sure that fans of Partizan and Red Star did not clash after the match while leaving the stadium, though Vukolic said that several incidents occurred, but that no one was hurt in the scuffles. Partizan defeated Red Star at its home “Marakana” stadium in the 137th local derby played between the teams by a score of 2:1. (Tanjug)
