Monument in memory of killed Bosniaks

The decision came after three years of debates on when the monument should be completed and what should be inscribed it.

The arguments were heated between the ruling coalition and opposition of the local government and Bosniak and Serb parties in the region.

The issue was taken to the parliament in Belgrade, but a decision was made that it was in the hands of the local authorities to do as they saw fit.

The deciding argument that prevailed was that the monument should be erected, even if it meant that no names would be written on it.

A total of 19 civilians were taken from a train highjacked by Bosnian Serb paramilitaries on February 27, 1993.

They were then take to a location near Višegrad, Bosnia, abused and murdered.
