"Dačić puts Pope’s statement out of context"

“The Holy See makes the decision on the canonization, without any doubt. I have seen the speech the Holy Father gave in Georgia, and it feels to me that the statement Mr. Dačić used was taken out of context in an unacceptable and inappropriate way”, said Kovač.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić said yesterday that the denouncement Pope Francis made saying that the proselytization of the Orthodox is a great sin, represents the largest distancing, and the greatest condemnation by the Vatican of actions of the Croatian Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac.

Pope Francis said, during the meeting with the representatives of the Catholic Church in Georgia, that Catholics must not try to proselytize the Orthodox, and that the attempt of involuntary “recruitment” of the followers is “a great sin”.
