SARAJEVO Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves Association representatives have filed a lawsuit against the UN to the European Court of Human Rights. The association believes that the UN is responsible for genocide committed in Srebrenica in 2005. Srebrenica victims’ families file suit against UN “We have asked the court to deliver a fair ruling that it is not political like in the case of the Dutch Supreme Court, which was in the UN’s favor and to the detriment of the victims,” Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves Association President Munira Subasic has stated. The association decided to launch the proceeding before the European Court of Human Rights after the Dutch Supreme Court rejected their suit in May. The association representatives filed the suit due to the fact that Dutch soldiers who served in UNPROFOR “did nothing to protect the Bosniak population from the mass killings” committed by the Serb forces in 1995. The Dutch court rejected the lawsuit, stating that the Dutch troops had a UN-guaranteed immunity from the court prosecution, Bosnian media have reported. (Beta, file) Tanjug
