A Bulgarian barge that was transporting iron ore to Serbia has hit a cliff in the Danube Gorge and overturned. The accident happened near the Romanian town of Turne Severin. No one was reported injured. Barge collides with cliff in Danube 2,000 tons of ore sank into the river, shortly after forming a 4,000 sq meter red stain on the water's surface. Romanian environment and water management agencies have been sent to the scene. The barge was part of a convoy consisting of one tugboat and six barges. According to Beta news agency, experts are saying that this type of accident is fairly rare in the Danube Gorge. In the past ten years, only three have been reported.
