The 16th anniversary of Sarajevo's Dobrovoljacka St. massacre was marked today with a church ceremony in East Sarajevo. On May 3, 1992, a convoy of the Yugoslav People's Army, JNA, came under attack as it was withdrawing from the town. Soldiers killed in 1992 in Sarajevo remembered 42 soldiers were killed in the assault. Today, officials of the Republic of Srpska (RS) government, the Bosnian Serb entity's associations of veterans, and those representing the RS parliament, placed flowers at the central cross of the military cemetery. The survivors of the deadly incident 16 years ago were also present. No one was charged in connection to the deaths, although the RS MUP submitted criminal charges against 15 persons to the Bosnia-Herzegovina Prosecution. The suspects are believed to be responsible for killing 42, wounding 73, and imprisoning 215 soldiers.
